The Five Sisters Zoo is near West Calder, and even though it is not as large as Edinburgh Zoo it still makes a fun days out in West Lothian. Even though it is smaller, there are still plenty of animals at Five Sisters Zoo for you to enjoy.
The easiest way to 5 Sisters Zoo would be by car, however, there are lots of car park spaces available and parking is currently free of charge.
The Leaping Lemurs restaurant and soft play are great for a bite to eat and a sit down (or run around for the kids). What is good is that you can just come for lunch and pay for the soft play and not visit the zoo. This is great as if it’s a wet day, sometimes you want to get out of the house but not want to get soaked!
The West Lothian Zoo is always expanding and making changes to the enclosures which I find very refreshing. The owners and staff obviously take the animals welfare seriously and it is lovely to see.
There are keeper talks throughout the day, and also handling sessions that can be booked in advance. I’m not 100% sure if these are currently taking place due to COVID, so it is best to check directly to see what the current situation is.
Five Sisters Zoo Christmas event (Five Sister Zoo illumination) always seems to be a highlight for the end of the year. You can book tickets via their website if you wish to go to see all the lights.

Facilities: The Main Zoo!, Gift Shop, Toilets, Cafe (alternatively there are picnic areas), Outdoor Play Area (some sections require payment), and Soft Play.
Entry Price: Five Sisters Zoo prices are currently £10.45 (Children 3-15), £12.95 (Adults). You have to book tickets in advance due to COVID. Please always check directly as prices can change.
